Society Happenings for September 2007

September Meeting this Thursday the 6th at 6:30 at Autoway Ford.

Topic of the month is "Mother Earth" Bring in your best 3 interpretations of Mother Earth or you can email them by Wednesday evening. If anyone would like to bring treats in this month please send us an email and let us know.

September Photo safari this Saturday the 8th at our studio following the photo lecture at the Art Center. We will be creating still life shots in the studio. Please let us know if you are coming .We will start at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Steven Gregory, Tampa Photographer Laureate 2006

Steven S. Gregory’s latest Photographic work came to fruition with the joining of two entities...inspiration and technology. Utilizing the constantly improving digital technology to look beyond what is seen. Working early in the morning and just before sunset he searches for shifting light and its transforming effect on textures, shadows, and colors.

Elements users can come to as much of what will be covered is great for both programs. We will discuss ways you can present your images to better enhance the mood and feeling you are trying to portray.

2006 Photographer Laureate "The Big Picture Project"

Bay Area Photographer Steven Gregory was selected as the 2006 The Big Picture Photographer Laureate Program recipient. Steven exhibit will be opening on July 27th from 6-9 pm and will be on display at the museum until October 7th. the Museum is Located on Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa

The Museum honors the American photographer Herb Snitzer in his 50th year of making photographs. This installation of 12 select photographs strongly suggests the scope of his lengthy and varied career. Opening Reception is July 19th

Jayanti Seiler’s large format Polaroid’s are inspired by film noir and contrast the grace, delicacy, and power present in the human form.  Seiler is a professional photographer and visual arts instructor. Her fine art photography has been published and exhibited throughout the country.  In 2000 Seiler was commissioned for a digital photography project at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC and she was the film still photographer on HBO’s the feature-length film “The Blue Diner.”

Digital Images for the group should be jpeg files  1024x768 at 100ppi  files names should be initials, month,year, title example (js0207treeballet.jpg). You may also bring prints that are matted image area should be at least 8x10
