The artist should open the eyes of the viewer to overlooked beauty that is sometimes right in front of us. (Kenn Backhaus)

Happy New Year

January meeting is coming up and the theme for is
" One Egg".

Join us Thursday the 7th at 6:30 p.m.

Our New Year is here and the theme for January is a single egg. I prefer a standard grocery store egg so we can see how everyone interprets the same subject but as always you may interpret the theme anyway you like. Think inside the box or out it is up to you. Be creative and try to do something different.

Send your images to me by Wednesday night or you may bring them to the meeting. Please bring only 2 images. Theme related or your best images from the past month

Remember to size your files to no larger than 1024x768 at 100ppi and they should have your name in the beginning example of your files could be Example (Jim_Swallow_shopping_carts_1_0409.jpg)

It helps tremendously by having all your images together at the end of the year by you using the same method each and every month. Thanks

March -- Old Stuff, April -- Doors,
May -- Rubber Ducky, June -- Relationships,

Photography Tips

Yearly Project for 2010

It is time for everyone to commit to a yearly project. At the January meeting we will discuss some of the possible topics and by February everyone should have a theme for the year. This is a great exercise and I encourage everyone to participate. You can look at the themes for the past two years and see what some of the members have done before or come up with your own unique idea. Please give this some serious thought and bring your topic to the January meeting. If everyone will commit to participate we will have an awesome year of creative photography.

Legends in Photography: Major Works from the Museum’s Collection
September 12, 2009–January 31, 2010

This exhibition of more than sixty images gives insight into the depth and breadth of the MFA’s noted photography holdings. The photographs range from the early days of print photography, as in a 19th century salt print by Edouard Baldus, and classic western landscapes by William Henry Jackson and Carleton Watkins, to later 20th century color photographs by William Christenberry and Stephen Shore.

We have a local Photography Supply Store in the bay area and if you haven't been now is the time to go. All of the sales people are friendly and helpful and they have lots of equipment. It is time to support your local photography supply house before they are all gone. Internet is not everything. There is much to be said about touching, feeling and supporting your local business man. They will be present this Saturday at our Photography Club Day because they believe in you and it is time to believe in them.
